Wellbeing and Mental Health for Students
The department attracts a large and diverse community of undergraduate and postgraduate students who may require specific support mechanisms. Our student-facing members of staff attend regular mental health training sessions and have access to the information and key people in the collegiate university who can provide you with specialist advice and support.
- Visit the Get Support page on the University websit, which will direct you to the many resources and people you can contact to support you or someone who you suspect may be suffering with mental health issues.
- For postgraduates, there are many people in the department or your college whom you can contact, including your PI, mentor, Deputy Head of Department, Postgraduate Education team, or college tutor/counsellor to discuss how to access available support. The Postgraduate Education Team in the department regularly update the available support to postgraduate students and you can ask for a confidential discussion with them in the first instance.
- For undergraduates, your college contacts--Tutor, Senior Tutor, Director of Studies or Wellbeing Advisor--are best placed to provide ongoing support throughout the academic year, but should you need any information about departmental support, you can contact the Undergraduate Teaching Office, who will direct your question or concern to the most suitable members of staff.
- Find further support through the Centre for Clinical Intervention Self Help information sheets, reading Five Ways to Wellbeing on the Mind website, and by visiting Student Space from Student Minds.
- Accessibility and Disability Services provides confidential advice to disabled students, including undergraduates, postgraduates, new students about to start their course and students thinking of applying.
